With the support of our members, St. Joseph Rod & Gun Club has maintained the lake access points at Kraemer Lake, as well as Watab (Long) and Rassier Lake in St. Joseph, MN.

About St. Joseph Rod & Gun Club

Why Join?

  • Help maintain and protect Kraemer, Rassier, and Watab (Long) Lakes — vital natural resources for fishing, boating, and wildlife.
  • Support our long-standing commitment to youth and adult firearms safety training.
  • Participate in year-round activities like the Birdhouse Build and Ice Fishing Contest — great for all ages.
  • Attend monthly meetings with fellow members to shape club decisions — and maybe win a prize!

Monthly Meetings

Visit one of our monthly meetings! We meet on the third Monday of the month at the American Legion Club meeting room. Meetings start at 7:00 PM, last about an hour, and are followed by door prize drawings. The American Legion is open if you need food or refreshments during the meeting.

Club History

1950-1990

  • 1954

    Officially became an organization recognized by the State of Minnesota

  • 1969

    St. Joseph Rod & Gun Club purchases Watab Lake

  • 1972

    Began sponsored Firearms Safety Training that continues today

  • 1973

    Became an Affiliate of the Minnesota Conservation Federation (MCF), the official State Affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation

  • 1984

    Sponsored up to four children (aged 12 to 15 years old) to the 6-day Long Lake Conservation Camp

  • 1989

    In March, received a Certificate of Commendation from Gov. Rudy Perpich in support of & passage of the Environmental and National Resources Trust Fund

  • 1989

    In September, awarded the Minnesota Conservation Federation(MCF) President Award as the outstanding Sportsman Club for the year

  • 1989

    Awarded National Wildlife Federation Chairman’s Award for Outstanding and Distinguished Service in the Field of National Resource Conservation

1990-Today

  • 1993

    Began holding an Annual Ice Fishing Contest in February that continues (weather permitting) today

  • 2018

    Became a 100% non-profit club
